Understanding Online Fake Reviews -How to Spot Them

Internet by far, is the only place in the world that gives more freedom to almost everyone. It demands no passport, license or visa. Thus, anyone can use it just for any purpose.

There are basically billions of websites. Some of them are dedicated to service and product reviews. Many others welcome all kinds of writings including such reviews.

Everyone knows that just by using Google, it is possible to reach them all. But the problem is that these days, companies and scammers can use those sites to write fake reviews of their products so people get interested or disinterested in buying them.

They simply can pretend to be real users. Yes, it is that easy! Unfortunately, when doing this they often end up inserting fallacies and other suspicious lines in their paragraphs which, fortunately, can be taken as the evidence of their criminal activity. Here we will be just taking a look at that. The discussion given will help you stay away from bad cosmetics, lotion or any other thing you are doubtful about.

A sentence that has "buy it" or "join"
Remember a product can be either a website or simply a moisturizer cream. Usually, in a fake review of a website, the word “sign up” will be added at the end concluding paragraph. But for a product like moisturizer cream, the fake review will have lines like “don’t waste your time, buy it now”.

Experience included is overly positive or negative:
As mentioned before, Internet gives freedom of movement to all. Here, you can say anything you like and not even get jailed or sued easily! This is seen as a major plus point by companies that are rival to each other or a vengeful user who did something illegal at a site and got banned by its owner. The tactic they can use online is to write reviews on the products of their prey in such a way so that potential customers do not buy or join them. We can simply call it negative marketing. On the contrary, those who will want to sell their products will write a very positive review by faking as real users. Look for exaggeration or 100 percent biased opinion.

Too many brief positive reviews and increased ratings:
Many people pick a product by seeing its rating or number of stars only. So a company or scammer concentrating only on this factor will avoid writing long reviews. In other words, there will be many entries which will be kept brief. You will basically not see any detailed experience included in them.

Targeting users who wrote bad reviews:
There are many products that get very bad reviews from users. Do you know the site called reviewum.com? Now known as Koofer, it is basically a place where college and university students review their professors. A problem with this site is that it does not require them to sign up with their campus email address. Consequently, no one can find out as to who is writing the reviews. Now many professors who have villainous personality end up getting slandered at reviewum.com. This sometimes even causes them to lose students for their upcoming classes. So to save their reputation, they enter the site as students and write fake reviews about themselves in positive manner. In between their sentences, they often target the students who gave them bad reviews by mentioning that they should have worked harder. This is called the moral of the story. In other words, if something has not worked for you it is your fault! This is what companies, who wish to save their products will include in their fake reviews.
