How Technology is Ruining Love and Relationships

Divorce rate started going towards a higher percentage in the 80s. But now things have changed. The arrival of 90s and 2000s has brought about more breakups than divorce papers. One of the main reasons behind this is the fact that people simply do not marry anymore! Jokes apart, we seem to be having a serious problem in love and relationships due to the advancement of technology. How? To know the answer, take a look at the points below:

Text message gone wrong: This is a problem faced by singles looking to score a date with a new love interest. The entire flirty conversation which is supposed to take place through voice now is transmitted through text messages. Unfortunately, many things go wrong here. A longer text message conversation between two people reveals that they might be going towards a positive direction. But in most cases, this reading turns out to be wrong. After the date, the love interest stops text messaging and the other person finds themselves asking all, “Do you think they’ll text me again?” In short, text messages can create hopes which at one point breaks into pieces.

Facebook dilemma: This is by far one of the main reasons why many relationships are in turmoil. Yes, you might be wondering why Myspace is not mentioned here. Actually, that specific website is not used by too many adults. So we can simply leave it out from the discussion. Coming back to Facebook, just check the love forums and you will notice that half of the relationship problems involve boyfriend not declaring his relationship status on his profile, ex still hanging under girlfriend’s friend list, finding a photo of boyfriend where he is kissing a female friend, girlfriend not giving her account password to her boyfriend and so on.

Dating sites give nothing, but trouble: Although many see hopes in  a dating sites at the end of the day it stays helpful to only a few- the ones craving for more sex and not looking for anything real. Meanwhile, others are left used and disappointed. But this is not all. Dating sites have also led to cheating. Many girlfriends simply end up finding out that their boyfriends really have an account at one of those spots.

Xbox 360 and PS3 invading homes:  Video game is no more like what it used to be before. We now have improved Xbox and Play station. Their games are more fun and interactive. So they have managed to attract adults also. Unfortunately, this is where the issue is. Boyfriend finds himself unusually devoted to Halo and Mass Effect. As a result, the girlfriend is left to ponder as to when he will really give her time. But this is not all. Some single guys are so much into video games that they miss the opportunity to get out to find a real relationship with a girl.

So you see, technology is creating lots of complications in love and relationships. But again, it is just not possible to live without it. After all, it is a part of our lives.
